English Language Program: Practice Real Life Conversation Skills (WPG490-62)

Course Description:

Gain confidence and develop your English speaking skills in this conversation class. Reinforce your basic knowledge of English, develop fluency with the past tenses, acquire new vocabulary, and practice correct pronunciation. This class will provide a friendly, safe virtual classroom environment where you can practice with lively activities how to speak comfortably and confidently in everyday English. 

Students will participate once a week for four weeks in 1.5 hour (live) Zoom sessions with our instructor. Students will be expected to complete 1-2 hours of homework assignments per week.

This course is offered virtual, online using Zoom. Zoom guidance and instructions will be provided prior to the start of the course. 

Who Should Attend?

Anyone who would like to practice their English speaking skills within a small group of others wishing to do the same.

About the Instructor:

Helen Bitsikas Rowell was born and raised in New Orleans, LA by parents who were born and raised in Greece. This gave Helen a huge start to her love of languages. She has a BA from The University of Florida in French with a minor in Greek and Philosophy and a MEd plus 30 in Curriculum and Instruction from The University of New Orleans. Helen taught nine years in the International School setting with DoDDs in The Netherlands and Germany.

After moving to the Cape in 1995, Helen shifted to Adult Basic Education where she helped many achieve their GED. Now she enjoys teaching adults English as a second language all the while learning her students' native languages. Her passions include learning, languages, conservation, animals, travel and dance.
