Calendar Next available session starts Mar 9, 2024 at 9 am

Accidents happen. People get hurt, sick, or lost. The temperature drops, the wind picks up, and it starts to rain. Would you know what to do? Many backcountry emergencies are preventable, and even when bad things happen, sometimes the wrong care can make things worse. By learning a few basic skills, you can make the difference between a good outcome and a bad one-and maybe even save a life.

The Wilderness First Aid (WFA) Certification Program is 16 hours long (two days), and focuses on the basic skills of: Response and Assessment, Musculoskeletal Injuries, Environmental Emergencies, Survival Skills, Soft Tissue Injuries, and Medical Emergencies.

There is ongoing evaluation of practical skills, and there are written assessments throughout the course. Upon successful completion, you will receive a WFA certification, which is good for two years.

Class Format
This program is offered in person.

Who should attend?
The WFA training is the perfect course for the outdoor enthusiast or trip leader who wants a basic level of first aid training for short trips with family, friends, and outdoor groups. It also meets the ACA guidelines.

About the Instructor
Kevin Rosenberg has been hiking since 1991 and has thousands of miles under his boots from the deserts of the Southwest, the volcanic landscapes of Iceland, the arctic tundra of Greenland, to the legendary Appalachian Trail. As one of the few military trained guides in the industry, Kevin has had unparalleled survival training and can navigate on land, sea or even in the air. He is not only certified as a Wilderness EMT, but also teaches both Wilderness First Responder and Wilderness First Aid courses.
