Project Management Fundamentals

Project Management is more about managing expectations than dates. Effectively managing multiple projects, resources, and budgets is critical in today's global business environment. This Project Management course will dive into the roles and responsibilities of the project manager and examine project management in theory as well as in practice. The course offers a practical approach to managing projects, without requiring any previous project management experience. We will focus on organizing, planning, and controlling the deliverables of the project using good practices.
Students will participate in structured workshops where simulated project plans are designed and implemented. At the end of the course, students will understand why project management requires a high degree of professionalism and attention to detail, and how to achieve that end in future projects.
We will examine project management roles, the project lifecycle, and various techniques of work planning, control, and evaluation to achieve project objectives using system tools and project management philosophies.

Society for Human Resource Management Certified Professional (SHRM-CP) Exam Prep Course

The SHRM-CP certification is for individuals that perform general HR/HR-related duties; or for those pursuing a career in Human Resource Management.
Candidates for the SHRM-CP certification are not required to hold an HR title and do not need a degree or previous HR experience to apply; however, a basic working knowledge of HR practices and principles is recommended.
The SHRM-CP exam is designed to assess the competency level of those who engage in HR work at the operational level. Work at this level includes duties such as implementing HR policies, supporting day-to-day HR functions, or serving as an HR point of contact for staff and stakeholders.

Enhanced Communication Skills

Today strong communication skills are beneficial to all aspects of our lives – in the workplace and in our personal relationships. In this course we will focus on the development of the interpersonal communication skills necessary for building and maintaining positive relationships in both personal and professional settings. Topics include an overview of the communication process (including audience, purpose, role, cultural context); the role of verbal and non-verbal communication in workplace and personal relationships; active listening and response skills; managing and resolving conflict; cultural and gender factors, the importance of communication in leadership; small group dynamics; making presentations; and job interviewing.
Course Objectives: At the end of the course, participants will be able to:
- Analyze the elements of the communication process.
- Assess an audience, formulate communication objectives, select language and tone, and identify nonverbal communication as part of the development of a personal leadership communication style
- Analyze and demonstrate the components of active listening
- Analyze how groups solve problems, manage and resolve conflict, and build consensus
- Recognize effective techniques for adapting communication to cross-cultural audiences.
