Data Analytics Essentials

with Ken Gould

Calendar Oct 24, 2022 at 9 am

Participants will explore how analytics touches their professional lives in many ways and how an analytic lens enriches our understanding (and enjoyment) of business, economics, science, sports, culture, public policy and current events.

Participants will learn the basic principles of data science and see how the application of those principles improves decision-making within their organization. We will review widely-used analysis methods with an emphasis on concepts and real-world application over mathematical formulae. Students will sharpen their critical eye and instill analytic/quantitative reasoning.

The Data Analytics Essentials program will include a combination of class lecture and group discussion. Content will be reinforced with case studies, workplace experiences and news events.

This program will demystify fancy-sounding terms and prepare business/public sector generalists for more productive collaboration with analytics teams in their workplace. We will also have some fun in the process!

Target Audience
Business/public sector generalists, across industries, who work closely with Analytics teams. Professionals coming from all disciplines – Finance, Sales, Marketing, CRM, Project Management, Product Development, Policy Analysis, etc. If you are analytical and curious and would like a deeper understanding of the foundational concepts and principles behind data analytics, this program is for you. This course also serves aspiring analytics professionals seeking initial exposure through an intro-level course.
