Mental Health First Aid

A skills-based training course that helps people identify, understand, and respond to mental health and substance use issues.

This training covers: 

  • Common signs and symptoms of mental health challenges.
  • Common signs and symptoms of substance use challenges.
  • How to interact with a person in crisis.
  • How to connect a person with help.
  • Expanded content on trauma, substance use and self-care.

Industry Certificate will be awarded upon completion of session.

The Cape & Islands Suicide Prevention Coalition and the Cape & Islands District Attorney's Office, have partnered with Cape Cod Community College to offer Mental Health First Aid, as well as QPR, safeTALK, Sudden Death Postvention, and ASIST training programs that provide our communities with the necessary information and tools to raise awareness, educate, and increase action to reduce suicides.

Marine Technician Training: An Introduction to Outboard Systems

An Introduction to Outboard Systems
Start a New Career in Marine Technology

The Center for Community and Professional Education at Cape Cod Community College is offering a Marine Technician/Mechanic Training Program, in partnership with Yamaha Motor University, to meet the demands of the booming Massachusetts boating industry!

This Yamaha Introduction to Outboard Systems course covers all components and functions of an outboard engine and is designed to be an entry-level course for students desiring to pursue careers with Yamaha Outboard dealers on Cape Cod and beyond. The focus is on basic outboard systems and maintenance to prepare you for a variety of positions including Marine Technicians, Sales, Parts and Administrative roles. It is primarily lecture with some hands-on experiences. The on-site, online portion includes quizzes and exams administered by Yamaha Marine University. Upon completion, you will receive a certificate from Yamaha that allows you to pursue their next level training once employed by a Yamaha dealer.

Students will also participate in an OSHA 10 Safety Program to improve classroom safety while earning this additional certification.

In addition, 1B and 3A Hoisting Engineer Training will be available to interested students as a separate enrollment opportunity.

An Introduction to Outboard Systems is limited to a maximum of 10 students.

Who Should Take This Program
This 100-hour program is for entry-level participants with little or no experience in the field. Previous experience is desirable but not required. Interested participants should have a high school diploma/equivalent or 1-3 years' experience in the field.

This program is not designed for do-it-yourself home repair, but for those looking for a career path entry level program in the recreational marine industry with a focus on Yamaha Outboard products.

What to Expect
This in-person program includes classroom instruction, onsite technical instruction, and online instruction. Students will receive career coaching, curriculum support, as well as hands-on training. 

Program Timeline:

  • Marine Technician Certification Training will run three nights per week beginning 1/5/2026 on Mon./Wed./Thu., from 6-9pm.
  • OSHA 10 Certification Program will run twice weekly during the first two weeks of the program on Wed./Thu., 1/7, 1/8, 1/14 & 1/15/2026, from 6-8:30pm.
  • Hoisting Engineer Prelicensing Program (Earn 1B & 3A) is available for students who choose to enroll on Sat.,1/31/2026, from 8am - 4:30pm. (Requires seperate registration.)

Class Format
This program is held in person at the Marine Technology Lab at Cape Cod Community College.

Join us to learn more about our 40-Hour Real Estate Salesperson Exam Prep Course starting on May 12, 2026, and meet our instructor, Dave Harris. Find out more about available scholarships as well! 

Massachusetts requires 40 hours of pre-license training prior to the real estate salesperson exam. Our course prepares students for the license exam. It is approved by the MA Board of Registration for fulfilling its licensing requirements.
