Clearing Productivity Hurdles: Strategies to Feel Accomplished at the End of Your Work Day (WPG612-66)

$219

with Jen Vondenbrink

Calendar Feb 2, 2022 at 2 pm

The pace of work today has accelerated. With easier ways to communicate, connect, and meet,  work time feels compressed. Add to that potential staff shortage, and it leads to what is called “attention residue,” which develops when the pace of work requires leaving one task for another. Although trying to be present in the new task, the brain keeps the other task alive. With old and new tasks intertwined, leaders and employees alike feel overwhelmed.

Productivity is also affected as teams become more distributed instead of working in traditional office environments. Distributed teams require individual self-leadership to manage and communicate about their workload in different ways than before. Without these skills, individuals feel unaccomplished at the end of the workday.

Through presentations, group discussions, and small group activities participants will gain a feeling of control over their time. Between sessions, they will be encouraged to use the tools, resources, and supplemental provided during their workday. When they return, they will have opportunities to problem-solve with the group.

Topics included:

  • Challenges to being productive in today’s workplace
  • Myths of multitasking
  • Prioritizing tools and tactics
  • Leveraging tools already in place
  • Communicating about workload with others

Learning Objectives:

  • Understanding the risk of multitasking and what it means to mindfully multitask
  • Learn and practice how to effectively prioritize tasks
  • Learn how to tap into the power of their calendars
  • Understand the limitations of the brain as a productivity tool
  • Learn ways to communicate about workload in today’s workplace
  • How to leverage the time available to get work done

By investing your time in this session, and committing to use some of the tactics, you will see a life-long return on that investment that will not only benefit you today, but in the weeks, months, and years to come.

Who Should Attend
This virtual, instructor-led course is designed for business owners, managers, team members, and employees struggling to maintain boundaries between professional and personal time. They also may struggle to find the time during the day to get work done because of the increased number of meetings or unplanned interruptions.
