Ropeless Fishing

Introduction to Ropeless Fishing

$49

with Bob Melvin

Calendar Next available session starts Sep 26, 2023

Working subsea with Ropeless Fishing requires the knowledge of acoustic sound propagation, the effects of temperature and salinity, acoustic triggering, and positioning using range and bearing. Understanding the physics and fundamentals will make using the technology viable to operators.

The Ropeless Fishing community is developing technology to set and retrieve traps without the use of vertical lines. The technology is new, novel, and still in the process of evaluation. It is recognized that there is a need for the training of users to advance testing and usage. It is our vision to promote Ropeless Fishing and develop a solution with commercial viability and involve the local community early in the development and adoption of ropeless.

Training will consist of two sections:
1) Fundamentals Training will be Hybrid: Choose between attending in person or via Zoom on Tuesday, 9/26, from 6-9pm (Understanding of acoustics, underwater triggering, and batteries)
2) Hands on Equipment Training Demonstrations: In person on Tuesdays, 10/3 with SMELTS and EdgeTech, and 10/10 with LiftLabs and Ropeless Systems. Both sessions run from 3-6pm. (Rain date 10/17.)

2240 Iyannough Rd
West Barnstable, MA
