Course Description:

About the Instructor:

Rich Weissman is an experienced supply chain management practitioner and educator. He works with businesses to build scalable and sustainable supply chain strategies. His focus includes strategic sourcing, sales and operations planning, process improvement, and sales and customer service management. Weissman teaches operations and supply chain management, strategy and policy, entrepreneurship, and managerial economics at the graduate and undergraduate levels, and writes and speaks extensively on issues impacting the global supply chain. He has more than twenty-five years of hands-on experience in procurement and supply chain management for Boston area manufacturing and service companies. He is past president of the Purchasing Management Association of Boston (ISM-GB) and the recipient of the Harry J. Graham Memorial Award, the highest honor bestowed by the Association. Weissman earned an MS in Management from Lesley University and a BA in Economics from Rutgers University.

Dianne holds a BA in Education from the University of Massachusetts as well as a MSW from Boston College School of Social Work; certifications as a Myers-Briggs Type Instrument, Leadership 2000 and Situational Leadership Instructor; and in addition, Dianne is a Mass certified meditator and continued to advance her training in this area by attending Harvard University’s Program on Negotiation.

Course Description:

Microsoft Excel is one of the most powerful and versatile business tools. This course will help students familiarize themselves with basic functions, formulas, commands and keystrokes. Students will learn the basics of creating and using spreadsheets to increase their workplace productivity. This course will include an overview of the ribbon bar, commonly used commands, and basic formulas used to automate one's work. Students will also discover professional Excel tips for brilliant, distinctive output every time, on every worksheet.

This program is for confident beginner users of MS Excel who are ready to explore additional functions, formulas and commands to increase their workplace productivity.

About the instructor:

Elaine Moore has earned three degrees: Associate’s and Bachelor’s degrees in Computer Science as well as a Master’s degree in Computer Information Systems. 

She has worked as a Director of Information Technology at the National Graduate School of Quality Systems Management (NGS) in Falmouth, then transitioned to the New England College of Business (NECB) in Boston. While at NECB, she was part of the eLearning Technology department, which created animated and interactive lectures for online classes.

Elaine started classroom teaching for Cape Cod Community College in the Fall semester of 2006 and has been teaching with us ever since! Students enjoy Elaine's friendly and personal demeanor.

Course Description:

This basic conversational Brazilian Portuguese course is designed to introduce the non-native speaker of Portuguese to the four basic skills necessary to develop a working knowledge of Portuguese: understanding, speaking, reading, and writing.

This course is offered in a remote learning capacity. Zoom guidance and instructions will be provided in advance of the first session.

Non-native speakers of the Brazilian-Portuguese language who would like to have an understanding of every day words and phrases to communicate with our Brazilian Portuguese community.

About the Instructor:

Teaching people to build communication bridges through learning a new language is a passion for Poliana (Poli) Bellan Wilson. Born and raised in Brazil, she immigrated to the US in 2017. Back in Brazil, she first started as an ESL instructor in 1996, and in 2014, when living in São Paulo city, she added to her teaching repertoire  Portuguese to non-native speakers who were expatriates in the big city. Nowadays, besides joining our team of instructors, she also records weekly PSAs in Portuguese for WMVYRadio.

Effective communication is about more than just exchanging information. It is about understanding the emotion and intentions behind the information. It is about being able to clearly convey a message. It is about listening to your clients or customers in a way that gains the full meaning of what is being said, builds trust, and makes the other person feel heard and understood.

• Understand the six stages involved in the communication process
• Learn how and why communication fails
• Identify 3 learning style preferences
• Recognize your audience in terms of how they learn and communicate

During the first cybersecurity foundation session, basic cybersecurity terminology will be discussed. Then, building on those items, we will review the types of cyberattacks businesses face and explore the past and present cyber landscape. We will deep dive into these critical moments in time across the cyber landscape and discuss essential cybersecurity protocols business owners and executives can implement in their organizations to avoid falling victim to similar threats.

In our second session, we will build on what was discussed during session one, dive into more advanced cybersecurity topics, and look towards the future. We will also discuss the essential aspects of an effective cybersecurity program that small business owners and executives can implement to protect their organization better. Finally, we will wrap things up with a Q&A session to answer any questions!

Jake Mazzola is a part-time instructor at Cape Cod Community College. Jake graduated from the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth with a Bachelor of Science degree in Management Information Systems in 2013. After graduating, Jake co-founded Blue Harbor Technology in 2015. Blue Harbor Technology provides a wide variety of IT solutions and services to small and mid-size businesses across the South Shore of Massachusetts who want to do IT right. This 40-hour course contains the 29 CFR 1910.120 regulatory overview, site and safety health plan, job hazard analysis, waste characterization, site investigation/audit, personal protective equipment, air monitoring, decontamination, SCBA use, basic principles of emergency response, introduction to confined space, and chemical hazards vs. physical hazards.

Who Should Attend? 

This safety program is for workers that are new to uncontrolled hazardous waste or emergency response operations, or that perform activities that expose or potentially expose them to hazardous substances.

Course Description:

Adobe Illustrator, the industry-standard vector graphics software, lets you create scalable art for everything from web and mobile graphics to logos, icons, book illustrations, product packaging, and billboards. Turn shapes and colors into logos and icons. Create typography, draw freehand, and trace and recolor graphics. Illustrator is vector-based, so your artwork stays crisp even when you scale it up to stadium size.

Instructor Keith Conforti shows you how to get started with Adobe Illustrator CC and covers the 10 things that basic users want to know how to do. If you are new to Illustrator, or looking to improve your skills, or to simply learn a few new tools, this single session class is for you. After covering ten important things, we will follow up with a question and answer session to address specific techniques you may want to learn more about executing.

Important: Students should have a working knowledge of Zoom and some prior exposure to Adobe Illustrator. While this class is targeted for novice to intermediate users, strict beginners looking for an introduction to the software will most likely not be suited to the pace of the class.
